Department of Bioinformatics

The Department of Bioinformatics was established in 2010 at Patkar Varde College at the forefront of interdisciplinary education, bridging the gap between biology and computer science. The department offers a comprehensive Master of Science (MSc) program in Bioinformatics, equipping students with the computational skills and biological knowledge to tackle complex biological problems using cutting-edge data analysis techniques. Our department aims to impart a comprehensive foundation in bioinformatics principles, algorithms, and tools, cultivate critical thinking and problem-solving skills in the context of biological data analysis and promote innovative research in bioinformatics, addressing contemporary challenges in genomics, proteomics, and systems biology. The department's faculty comprises qualified and experienced bioinformaticians with expertise in diverse areas, including genomics, proteomics, structural bioinformatics, and computational biology. We provide students with access to high-performance computing resources and specialized software tools to support their research and analysis projects. Department emphasizes hands-on training through practical laboratory sessions, workshops, and research projects, ensuring students gain proficiency in bioinformatics tools and techniques.
