Department of Management Studies (Previously BMS )
Introduction of the department:
Established in the academic year 2000-2001, the Department of Bachelor of Management Studies (BMS) has evolved into a vibrant hub of educational excellence, offering a comprehensive three-year program spanning six semesters with an intake capacity of 180 seats. Recognized as a stepping stone for both MBA and Entrepreneurial Training, the BMS degree not only exposes students to the fundamentals of Corporate Culture but also prioritizes contemporary and practical learning. The department, an integral part of the Department of Commerce & Management, is committed to fostering a holistic educational environment through initiatives such as Yuva Social Forum, Lion’s Den, and Aarohan, providing platforms for cross-cutting discussions, entrepreneurial skill development, and diverse co-curricular activities. Through a dynamic blend of seminars, workshops, and guest lectures, the BMS Department facilitates meaningful interactions between students and eminent personalities, bridging the gap between academia and real-world applications. Annual industrial visits offer invaluable insights into the internal workings of diverse industries, complementing theoretical knowledge with practical exposure.
The commitment to student development is further evident in the emphasis on co-curricular activities such as quiz competitions, debates, and role-plays, nurturing essential skills like time management, leadership, and problem-solving. Student-led initiatives like the "Weekend Chronicle" newsletter and video projects like Shades of Innovation “Yashogatha” showcase creativity, critical thinking, and the accomplishments of alumni. The recent establishment of the "Srujan- The Innovators and Creators" forum exemplifies the department’s commitment to fostering management discussions through activities led by industry experts. Additionally, the department consistently broadens opportunities for students, from forging collaborations with new companies for placements to introducing activity-based learning, short-term programs, and add-on courses. In essence, the BMS Department stands as a dynamic and inclusive educational powerhouse, not only imparting knowledge but also fostering holistic development, equipping students for success in the ever-evolving realms of management and entrepreneurship.
